Make the Terms of Trust Visible

[!summary] The Reader Promise Learn how to test whether a promise makes its monitoring, resources, measures, identity, and response conditions clear.
The Field Note
[!example] Make the Terms of Trust Visible Before asking for trust or cooperation, write the monitored input, resource condition, outcome measure, accountable owner, identity risk, and expected response.
The Associated Press shows workplace surveillance as an active management issue. The World Bank describes SME finance as an ecosystem. It depends on policy, institutions, digital infrastructure, and lender capacity. AACSB’s research-impact framework makes societal value part of how business education describes its work. Inside Higher Ed reports a live university branding dispute. The report shows that names can carry institutional value and legal risk.
These examples do not prove that surveillance has a particular effect. They do not prove that a local finance program will succeed, that research metrics cause impact, or that the branding case will end a particular way. They support a narrower practice: make the terms of trust visible before treating a promise as evidence. Farnam Street’s Reciprocity model adds a useful question. What response does this action make more likely?
